Convert HEIC to JPG

HEIC is the format iPhones save photos in to save space. The problem starts when the photo leaves the phone: many Windows programs, websites and older devices cannot open .heic files. Converting HEIC to JPG makes the photo open everywhere again.

Upload your HEIC files above and the conversion handles the rest, including the capture orientation: photos never come out sideways, because the orientation recorded by the phone is applied automatically.

Why do iPhones save photos as HEIC?

HEIC stores the same photo in roughly half the space of JPG, which is why Apple made it the default. Inside the Apple ecosystem it works silently; the friction appears only when the file meets software that does not know the format.

If you share photos with Windows users, upload them to web forms or print them at a shop, JPG is the safe common ground: every device and program made in the last two decades opens it.

How to convert HEIC to JPG

  • Upload the .heic files; up to 20 photos per request, each up to 100 MB.
  • Keep the output format as JPG.
  • Set the quality; 85 is balanced for most photos.
  • Start the conversion and download the JPG photos one by one or as a ZIP.

Does the conversion lose quality or details?

JPG is lossy, but at the default quality of 85 the difference from the original is not visible on screen. The pixel dimensions of the photo are kept exactly; only the storage format changes.

If you plan to edit the photo heavily afterwards, choose PNG as the output instead: it is lossless and survives repeated saves without wearing down.

A whole album at once

When someone sends a folder of HEIC photos from an iPhone, converting them one by one is the slow route. Upload up to 20 files in a single request here; each photo is converted with the same settings and you can pull all the JPGs down as one ZIP file.

The original file names are kept with the new .jpg extension, so matching the converted photos to the originals afterwards stays easy.

One setting can prevent the problem at the source: on the iPhone, under Settings, Camera, Formats, choosing the most compatible option makes new photos save as JPG directly. The photos you already have still need converting, which is what this page is for; the setting simply stops the pile from growing. Friends and family who share photos with you will thank you for mentioning it. Until everyone switches, this page stays the fastest way out of the format trap.

Will my HEIC photos come out sideways?

No. The capture orientation recorded by the phone is applied automatically during conversion, so photos come out upright.

Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?

At the default quality of 85 the difference is not visible. For editing work, choose PNG output instead; it is lossless.

Why will my computer not open HEIC files?

HEIC support is built into recent systems but missing from many older programs and websites. Converting to JPG removes the dependency entirely.
